About Servir

Who is Servir?

Servir is a subscription home help service for standalone homeowners in Litchfield and Fairfield County, Connecticut. We're a CT-licensed home improvement business (HIC.0703886), fully insured through Berkshire Hathaway Direct Insurance Company, and built around one simple idea: most homeowners have a list of small things that need doing. We handle that list, on a schedule, so you don't have to think about it.

What kinds of work do you do?

Light handyman work: small repairs, maintenance, hardware updates, smart home installations, caulking, weatherstripping, and similar tasks. The complete list is on our Services page. We focus on the kinds of jobs that fit in 30 to 90 minutes — the small stuff that piles up but never feels worth a contractor visit on its own.

What towns do you serve?

We serve Litchfield County and parts of Fairfield County. Our home base is New Milford, and we typically work within a 45-minute drive of there. That includes New Milford, Brookfield, Newtown, Bridgewater, Roxbury, Washington, Kent, Sherman, Bethel, Southbury, and surrounding towns. If you're nearby and not sure whether we serve your area, just ask.

Are you really fully insured?

Yes. Servir LLC carries general liability coverage through Berkshire Hathaway Direct Insurance Company. Every contractor working with us also carries their own coverage. We can provide a Certificate of Insurance with specific coverage details on request before any work begins.

Who actually does the work?

Our contractors are vetted, background-checked tradespeople who have signed contractor agreements with Servir. We don't subcontract to random workers. For specialized work that's beyond our scope (electrical panels, roofing, major plumbing, HVAC), we maintain a network of trusted partner contractors we introduce you to directly.

2

About membership

How does the subscription work?

Pick the plan that fits your home. We bill monthly or annually — your choice. Each plan includes a set number of hours per year. Text or email us when you need work done. We come within the week (or same-day if you have priority scheduling). You don't think about it again until you need us.

What plans do you offer?

Four plans for standalone homeowners: Essentials ($39/mo, 3 hours/year), Peace of Mind ($69/mo, 6 hours/year), Task Master ($119/mo, 12 hours/year), and Total Home Care ($169/mo, 16 hours/year). Each plan is designed for a different type of homeowner. See our Memberships page for full details.

Can I use my hours for big projects, or only small fixes?

Both. Your hours work for ANY labor within our scope — small fixes like a faucet repair OR bigger projects like deck staining, cabinet refresh, or smart home installation. Use them however fits your life. Materials are always billed separately.

What happens if I don't use all my hours?

Hours reset annually — use them within 12 months or they expire. This is what keeps your monthly rate affordable. Many members use all their hours; some don't — and that's fine. You're paying for the peace of mind that we're here when you need us. Total Home Care members who renew receive +2 free hours each year as a thank-you for staying.

What if I run out of hours mid-year?

Two options. Buy additional 2-hour blocks at member-discounted rates: $179 (Essentials), $169 (Peace of Mind), $159 (Task Master), or $149 (Total Home Care — our best rate). Every member rate beats our $99/hour First Fix rate. OR pay our fixed-price add-on service rate with your tier's exclusive discount (25% to 45% off depending on your plan).

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. New members get a full refund within the first 30 days, no questions asked. After that, you can cancel anytime — you'll just lose any remaining hours from your current term.

Are there any benefits to renewing?

Yes — Total Home Care members receive +2 free hours added to their plan each year they renew. It's our way of thanking the customers who stick with us. Other tier members renew at the same price and same hours — no changes year over year.

How do I start? Can I try Servir without committing to a plan?

Yes — try us with a First Fix. $149 flat for up to 90 minutes of work. We show up within 72 hours, handle what's on your list, and you'll know if Servir is right for you. If you love working with us, your $149 applies as a discount on whichever plan fits your life — saving up to $199 in your first year.

3

About visits and scheduling

How long is each visit?

Servir Home visits run 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the work. You can stack multiple small fixes into a single visit — a typical 90-minute visit might cover 3 to 5 different small jobs. For bigger projects, you can use a longer block of your subscription hours in one visit.

How quickly do you respond?

Standard scheduling is within one week. Task Master and Total Home Care members get same-day priority scheduling for urgent issues, plus weekend availability on Total Home Care. For real emergencies (flooding, electrical hazards, gas leaks), call 911 first — then call us once it's safe.

Do I get the same contractor every visit?

Whenever possible, yes — especially for Task Master and Total Home Care members. Continuity matters: the contractor who knows your home does better work on it. If you'd prefer a specific contractor, just ask when you book.

How do I book a visit?

Text or email us with what you need done. We'll confirm the timing and any materials you need to have on hand. For your first visit, we'll do a brief walkthrough so the contractor understands your home and your priorities.

What if I need to reschedule?

Just let us know at least 24 hours ahead and we'll find a new time. Last-minute cancellations may count against your hours — your contractor still spent the drive time and reserved their day.

4

About materials and pricing

Do I need to provide materials?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. We bring standard hardware (screws, anchors, basic supplies) included in our visit. For specific items like a new faucet, smart thermostat, or replacement fixture, you can supply them yourself OR we'll pick them up for you at our cost.

How does materials pricing work?

Materials are billed at our cost — whatever we pay, you pay. We show you the receipt every time. When we go out to source materials, we add a small handling fee capped at 5% to cover our time and gas. If you supply your own materials, there's no handling fee. We compare prices across vendors before sourcing, which typically saves 5-10% — often offsetting the handling fee entirely.

Do you mark up materials?

No. This is one of our core promises. Whatever we pay for parts is what you pay. We don't mark up. We don't add hidden fees. We show you the receipt. The only addition is a small handling fee (capped at 5%) when we go out to source materials for you, which compensates us for the time and gas.

What if the work goes beyond Servir's scope?

Some services require specialized trade licenses — electrical panel work, major plumbing, roofing, HVAC. For these, we'll introduce you directly to our trusted partner contractors. They handle the job with you directly (quote, schedule, and payment go through them). Many partners offer member-preferred pricing — just mention Servir when you book.

What if my task isn't listed in your services?

Just ask. Our published service list covers our most common work, but we handle plenty of unusual requests too. As long as it's safe, fits in your time block, and within our license and insurance scope, we'll handle it. If it's not something we can do directly, we'll either decline politely or connect you with a partner contractor who can.

Servir vs. the alternatives

How is Servir different from a regular handyman?

Most handymen are great at the work but inconsistent at the business side: they're hard to schedule, hard to reach, hard to predict. Servir is built around predictability. You have a contract. You know what's included. You know who's coming. You know the pricing. We're not the cheapest option — we're the reliable one.

Is this the same as a home warranty?

No. They serve completely different purposes, and often work best together. Servir is for proactive care — we handle the small repairs and maintenance that keep your home running, before things break. A home warranty is for reactive repair — it covers a percentage of the cost when major systems (A/C, furnace) fail. Using Servir reduces the chances you'll need to file a warranty claim in the first place.

Does Servir have hidden service fees like a home warranty?

No. Your monthly subscription covers your included hours and benefits. For additional hours or work beyond your plan, you see the rate up front and choose what to do. No surprise "service call fees" to file a claim, no denied coverage situations, no parts exclusions. What you pay is what you pay.

Can Servir handle improvements, not just repairs?

Yes. This is actually where Servir shines compared to home warranties. We do upgrades, improvements, smart home installations, cabinet hardware updates, mounting projects, organization — the kinds of tasks that enhance your home rather than just fix what broke. Home warranties don't cover improvements; they only cover repairs to systems that have failed.

How does proactive maintenance save me money?

Three ways. First, it avoids expensive emergencies — every dollar invested in preventative maintenance saves $3-$5 in avoided emergency repairs (industry data). Second, it extends equipment life — regular filter changes, system checks, and small fixes keep your appliances and systems running efficiently. Third, your member discounts on bigger projects lock in predictable pricing, protecting you from emergency surcharges or fluctuating market rates.

CANCELLATION & REFUNDS

Straight answers about cancelling

Everything you'd want to know before signing up.

Quick note: Servir Home and Servir Community have slightly different cancellation terms because our service models differ. See specifics below.

Can I cancel my membership anytime?

Yes. You can cancel through your account settings or by contacting us. If no service has been used within your first 30 days, you get a full refund. If service has been used at any point, we bill for the work completed at our non-member rate, plus a small admin fee, and credit any subscription payments toward the balance.

What if I signed up but never had a visit?

You get a 100% refund if you cancel within your first 30 days and haven't received any service. No fees, no drama.

What if I've used service and want to cancel?

The math depends on which service line you're on:

Servir Home: Hours used × $129/hour + $99 cancellation fee, minus subscription payments you've made.
Servir Community: Hours used × $99/hour + $49 admin fee, minus subscription payments you've made.

Positive balance = you owe. Negative balance = we refund you. See real math examples on your service's memberships page.

Why the different rates?

Servir Home covers a wider range of work (repairs, projects, seasonal maintenance) with longer visits. Servir Community focuses on quick, focused fixes for condo/townhome living. The pricing reflects the different service models — but our transparency policy is the same on both.

What's the cancellation/admin fee for?

It covers real costs when a member cancels: welcome call, adding you to our systems, initial visit coordination, and administrative processing. We don't charge this upfront when you sign up (unlike many services with activation fees). You only pay it if you cancel after receiving service.

Do you charge a sign-up fee like other services?

No. No activation fee, no joining fee, no first-visit surcharge. You pay your first month (or annual), and you're a member. The admin fee only applies at cancellation, not signup.

What if I've been a member for months and want to cancel?

Same math applies. Hours you used × our non-member rate + the admin fee, minus everything you've paid. Most long-term members with light usage actually get a refund back. The math genuinely cuts both ways.

Why $129/hour for Home and $99/hour for Community?

Two reasons: (1) Servir Home visits tend to be longer and cover more complex work, which reflects standard CT franchise handyman rates. (2) Servir Community visits are shorter, more focused, and we want the math to feel proportional to what community residents actually need. Both are still below what you'd pay for a comparable independent contractor after materials markup.

Can I dispute a cancellation balance?

Absolutely. Talk to us first. We'll walk through the math with you line by line — we have nothing to hide. We're a small local business, and we care about doing right by our members. If there's a legitimate disagreement, we'll work it out.

Is my subscription auto-renewing?

Yes. Monthly plans renew each month; annual plans renew each year. We'll email you before an annual renewal so there are no surprises. You can cancel anytime through your account settings — the terms above apply.
